{history}
Frederick Calvert was an eminent Manchester chemist who invented the first commercial way of producing carbolic acid (phenol). His company in Manchester founded in 1865 manufactured carbolic acid, disinfecting powder, laundry soap and carbolic tooth powder which in 1906 had the largest sale of any dentifrice in the world. In 1965 the company was taken over by Unilever.
Great decorative ink blotter, a fine example of vintage advertising.
Excellent bookbinding supply. Repurpose it into a book!
