The work of artist and historian Lito Apostolakou hosted in Inklinks discusses narratives of time, words, memory and history. Lito uses antique papers, archival ink, vintage prints and worn stationery to create collages on found objects like stones, drawers, wooden boards and and industrial trays. Her work has been exhibited in London, Bristol and Bath.
PAPER FOLDS: Influenced by the concept of the archive and the function of memory in art, Lito Apostolakou's series of collages are created in 3D environments resembling museum displays or archival boxes. Using pages from old discarded books, Lito creates paper folds as a revealing and a concealing tools: the written word becomes the material it is written on; its meaning changes, fluctuates or remains hidden.
Lito works from her home studio in Muswell Hill, London.
