Inspired by museum displays and archival vitrines, and by Roland Barthes' "writerly texts," this piece is an assemblage of antique wood, brass, paper and letters:
an old desktop perpetual calendar with a date which doesn't exist, a paper target, and heaps of letters on the antique writing slope board and the sides of the acrylic frame.
"Untitled" plays with the idea that the text is an artifice which produces the illusion of realism.
Here the text is reduced to its raw materials (letters) refusing to be targeted by time and meaning and existing in the void between materiality and illusion.
