Collage assemblage inspired from Virginia Woolf's The Waves.
A Thousand Stories is a fusion of antique paper, stationery, and calligraphy on an antique writing case.
Custom acrylic frame creates a 3D effect resembling an archival display or vitrine.
An extract from The Waves has been handwritten on antique paper on the surface of the writing case and all around its frame:
"I have made up a thousand stories; I have filled innumerable notebooks with phrases to be used when I have found the true story, the one story to which all these phrases refer."
A piece about the process of writing, about the search for meaning, and ultimately about the unfulfilled need for unity and coherence. The "vitrine" gives the objects a new unity but at the same time presents writing as a performance and the implements of writing as sacred relics.
